The Hastings College Bronco men's basketball team, led by its four seniors, extended its winning streak to seven Saturday against Northwestern.

Senior Waid Vontz hit seven three-pointers on his way to 31 points, and the Broncos beat the Red Raiders 93-79 to keep HC at second place in the GPAC.

Vontz was seven-for-nine from behind the arc and hit all six of his free-throws to pace the Bronco offense. HC had six players score double-digits. Freshman Jake Marvin added 19 points. Seniors Jeremiah Slough and Brent McNurlin had 13 and 14 points respectively and Junior Derek Fletcher added 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Broncos jumped to a 17-point lead heading into the half, largely due to the team shooting 50 percent from the floor in the half.

The Broncos held Northwestern to 44 percent shooting and only 18 percent from three-point land. Daniel Van Kalsbeek led Northwestern with 20 points including seven field goals but it wasnt enough as the Red Raiders fell to 9-7 in conference play.

HC has now scored over 89 points in each of its last six games and is now the second highest scoring team in the GPAC. The Bronco basketball team leads in four statistical categories including scoring margin (13.6) and turnover margin (2.67).

HC (22-5 overall, 13-3 GPAC) will travel to Dana College (8-18, 4-12) Wednesday. The Broncos have two regular season matchups left before the GPAC tournament starts on February 23.
