For those that consider sports an entertainment, Lindsay Ducey may be the star of the show. The 6'1 senior is hard to miss when she averages 19 points a game and wears her determination on her face.

"When it comes to filling her spot next year, it will be impossible," head coach Jeff Dittman said.

"We just won't find another Lindsay; another player that has all of the skill sets that she has, has the work habits that she has, has the off season determination that she has," Dittman said.

Ducey has been playing basketball along with many other sports since the first grade but believes she has always been best at basketball.

"My mom had me play for a lot of teams, so it's just something that I kind of grew up with doing, so it's something I liked doing.

There was a time period when I liked volleyball more but I was better at basketball, so I just played basketball but I think it was just my favorite of the sports that I tried out. I was pretty okay at it so I figure you might as well stick with what your good at," Ducey said.

The All-American attributes a lot of her success to her mom, Marjie Ducey who also played college basketball and pushed her to improve.

"My mom's been a huge supporter, and she got me into athletics. She pushed me when I was younger, you know, I played on a lot of select teams and went to a lot of tournaments and things like that. She's basically been my main support through all of my athletic endeavors," Ducey said.

Along with her many other accomplishments, including 1st team All Conference for the third year in a row, Ducey recently broke the Hastings College women's basketball all time scoring record previously set by Mary Stuehm in 2002.

"It's one of those things where I think it will set in once the season's over like how big of an accomplishment it really was, but I mean I'm really excited and in the back of my mind I knew I could beat it this year.

And so I think once I beat it, it was kind of a sigh of relief and at the same time it was a huge exciting thing. I was just happy to finally be able to break it," Ducey said.

Ducey also hopes to meet another goal of hers by winning the NAIA national tournament played in Sioux City, Iowa.

"The whole thing is we can't underestimate our selves and underestimate other teams. I think we can win it all and the only way we wouldn't win it all is if we kind of blew it ourselves," Ducey said.

After Ducey graduates she hopes to either find a job in the fashion industry or play ball over seas.

Next year the Broncos will lose five seniors, four of whom start.

"You know you never have the same player again. You go out and you put together another team with great chemistry and with great leadership and can do the things with this that these 5 seniors have done," Dittman said.

"I think that they're going to struggle a little bit at first but then I think they'll be able to adjust to it. I mean I hope that they are successful next year but I mean they're my friends and they're my teammates and I want to see Hastings do good so I hope they're successful," Ducey said.
