The Olympics brought variety, from curling to snowboarding to hockey. The Olympics were quite the experience.
The games attracted 190 million viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly. The Olympics even had more viewers than American Idol. This broke American Idol's 222-episode winning streak on Feb. 17, according to InsideTV.
The gold medal men's hockey game between the U.S. and Canada was the most watched hockey game in 30 years. The game brought 27.6 million viewers, the best since the "Miracle on Ice," according to tvbythenumbers.com.
So now what to watch? Well, judging by the popularity of Olympic hockey, I say let's all watch more hockey. The NHL season resumed Monday.
NHL teams have about 20 games left in their respective seasons and playoff pushes are becoming more and more crucial. Why watch?
If you watched the U.S. and Canada matchup, you probably know the top players from the rosters. Two of the top performers from the gold medal game, Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penquins, squared off Tuesday in an NHL game.
Unlike most sports, however, the NHL is balanced from top to bottom. Of the 30 teams in the league 28 are still in contention for the postseason.
If you find yourself channel surfing at night, longing for the Olympics, find your closest NHL hockey game and enjoy it. Odds are you'll find an Olympian on the rosters.
