The GPAC struggled today after losses by No. 1 Hastings College and No. 4 Morningside College. Briar Cliff College was careful not to fall into the same category during its 7 p.m. game against Cedarville University.

Briar Cliff senior Liz Grider, the nations leading scorer, lead the Chargers to an 81-62 victory over Cedarville. Grider finished the game with 36 points. Briar Cliff caused 26 turnovers and gave up 16.

Leading the way for Cedarville was senior Alison Lemon who finished with 13 points. Juniors Rachel Hurley and Aubrey Siemon each scored 10 points.

Besides Grider, Briar Cliffs only other player to score double figures was sophomore Megan Salcedo with 10 points. She led the team in rebounds with nine.

The Chargers and Northwestern College are the only teams out of the GPAC to reach the quarterfinals.

Briar Cliffs next game will be against Cardinal Stritch on Saturday at 8 p.m.
